An agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services whose mission is to prevent exposure and adverse human health
effects and diminished quality of life associated with exposure to hazardous
substances from waste sites, unplanned releases, and other sources of
pollution present in the environment. ATSDR is charged under the Superfund
Act to assess the presence and nature of health hazards at specific Superfund
sites, to help prevent or reduce further exposure and the illnesses that
result from such exposures, and to expand the knowledge base about health
effects from exposure to hazardous substances. |

Develops national programs, technical policies, and
regulations for air pollution control. Areas of concern include: indoor and
outdoor air quality, stationary and mobile sources of air pollution, radon,
acid rain, stratospheric ozone depletion and pollution prevention. |

This Web site allows you to search for facilities in your
community for the purpose of determining whether: EPA or State/local
governments have conducted compliance inspections violations were detected or
enforcement actions were taken and penalties were assessed in response to
environmental law violations. |
|
|
Integrates data extracted from five major EPA program
systems (air emission estimates, chemical types and surface water locations,
superfund facilities, toxic chemical releases, hazardous waste permits and
chemical names) using two integrating databases. It also incorporates
locational information. This system allows you to query all the databases
simultaneously for an environmental profile of a facility. |
