An alliance of public and private organizations whose work
addresses economic and environmental issues in the Duwamish industrial
corridor. Excellent reports and maps. |
|
|
Formed by an alliance of community, environmental and
small business groups affected by ongoing pollution and cleanup plans for the
Duwamish River. Our mission is to ensure a Duwamish River cleanup that is
accepted by and benefits the community and is protective of fish, wildlife
and human health. We are a formal "community advisory group"
recognized by EPA and representing the interests of the community. We have
received funding to hire a Technical Advisor to review all cleanup related
studies and plans. We are involved in all aspects of the proposed cleanup and
are working to ensure that the cleanup meets community standards. |
|
|
A non-profit agency to assist residents and business with
hazardous waste disposal, recycling, and other environmental issues. ECOSS
provides environmental education to businesses and citizens; serving as a
voice for the community on environmental issues. |

A discussion list for liquid nuclear tank waste stored at
the Hanford Site in Washington State. "Nuclear waste stored in tanks at
the Hanford Site represents the greatest radiological/chemical threat to the
environment anywhere in the Western Hemisphere. Over one million gallons--out
of a total of 53 million gallons-- of highly radioactive, extremely toxic
waste have already leaked into the environment. Some of the waste is now in
the groundwater. The Columbia River is next. More leaks will occur. Tank waste
treatment must begin now. Please join us in a discussion to search for ways
to get the cleanup started." |

Works with governments (federal, tribal, state, and
local), industry and the public to protect, preserve, and improve the
environment and health for all species in the Pacific Northwest (Alaska,
Idaho, Oregon, Washington). We accomplish this by reducing risks through the
proper management of wastes and chemicals. |

Our program consists of the Northwest Center for
Occupational Health and Safety, a NIOSH Education Research Center, and the
Region X OSHA Training Institute. Occupational health and safety courses. |

An agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services whose mission is to prevent exposure and adverse human health
effects and diminished quality of life associated with exposure to hazardous
substances from waste sites, unplanned releases, and other sources of
pollution present in the environment. ATSDR is charged under the Superfund
Act to assess the presence and nature of health hazards at specific Superfund
sites, to help prevent or reduce further exposure and the illnesses that
result from such exposures, and to expand the knowledge base about health
effects from exposure to hazardous substances. |
|
|
Database developed to provide access to information on the
release of hazardous substances from Superfund sites or from emergency events
and on the effects of hazardous substances on the health of human
populations. |
|
|
A series of summaries about hazardous substances. Each
fact sheet serves as a quick and easy to understand guide. Answers are
provided to the most frequently asked questions about exposure to hazardous
substances found around hazardous waste sites and human health effects. |
|
|
An international network of activists seeking to put an
end to the export and dumping of hazardous wastes from rich industrialized
countries to poorer, less-industrialized countries |
|
|
A global forum for the technical community to discuss
intrinsic/enhanced bioremediation topics. This forum is intended to provide a
medium to transfer technology, standardize biotreatability protocols, and
advance the science and engineering of bioremediation technologies. |
